Why you must live by the greatest commandment

Do you want to reach your full potential? Then you need to live by the greatest commandment.

There is more to the greatest commandment than many think. It starts with a love for God because, without God, you are nothing.

For you to research your full potential and prosper eternally, it is imperative that you start with God because without God, nothing else matters. You can amaze much wealth, accolades, notoriety, and fame, yet without God, it will profit you nothing.

Now you may be wondering what the greatest commandment is. You are right in asking. I will let the only person who died and resurrected tell us what the greatest commandment is. I want you to meet Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the son of man who died and resurrected after three days and now is seated at the right hand of God the Father.

When Jesus Christ, when asked about the greatest commandment, he had an interesting answer. Here is what transpired:

One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:36-39

Jesus Christ started with a love for God because without God, nothing matters. If you don’t believe that you were created in God’s image and likeness and that God has a purpose for your life and has already equipped you to accomplished it, you are not yet. Without a firm understanding, acceptance, and believe in this eternal truth, you will spend your life chasing behind shadows. Start with love for God, and you will be able to love all other God’s children because you underused who the creator is.

The next thing is a love of yourself. Taking care of your health, eating right, having enough sleep, rest, and nurturing your body is driven by a love for yourself. If you love yourself, you will take care of you.

If you don’t; love yourself, how will you love other people? If you don’t have the love of God, how you love other people? That is what you must love God and love yourself before you can truly love other people.

The enormous potential that is in you is not for you alone; it is to serve other people by providing goods and services. The great gifts and talents that you have are to be shared with others; this is how you love God, yourself, and others.

Do you love God? Do you love yourself? Do you love others? Then treat your body accordingly and other people with respect and dignity. Don’t be afraid to tell them the truth, because it is the truth that sets people free.
