Why you must be competent

Do you want to reach your full potential and become all you were created to be? Then you must become competent. It is imperative that you develop competency in something. What are you good at? While credentials, certificates, and degrees are good, competency is better.

Without competency in something, you are not going to go far. The good news is that you already have great potential in you, but you must develop it and become competent. There is no way you will reach your full potential with being competent.

According to John Maxwell,

“Competence goes beyond words. It’s the leader’s ability to say it, plan it, and do it in such a way that others know you know your business.”

You must have heard that is you fail to plan, you have planned to fail.

In other words, there is no neutral ground. You are either planning to succeed or plan to fail. It is not what you say that matters; your action speaks louder than words.

Are you know for your actions? Do you do what you say you are going to do? Do you do it in such a way that it stands out?

The fastest way to the top is to provide solutions that work. Without having competence, you cannot provide any lasting solutions.

Some have even said that you are the average of the five closest people to you. This includes your weight, income, dreams, and aspirations.

When you are competent, you will be good at what you do. Nobody captures this better than the wise words of King Solomon who said,

“Do you see a man who is good at his work? He will stand in front of kings. He will not stand in front of men who are not important.” Proverbs 22:29

Competence is not acquired in a day. You have to be determined, consistent, and persistent. Today is the best day to start developing some competencies!
