A true scientist is honest, open minded, follow the facts, and know that the data does not lie, but interpretations can be biased. This scientist does not allow preconceived ideas, stereotypes, and their personal beliefs to influence data collection, and interpretation. The scientist does not allow money, fame, cooperation, national or individual interest to influence the results they present.
Unfortunately, most of what passes today in the name of science are tinted. That is why people argued, insult, and demonized opposing views with religious zeal. To some science has become some religion. Science was never meant, nor can be a religion.
You need to read and hear some speak, and you will wonder what religion they are talking about. There is absolute truth, and this truth wins all the time. We heard about global warming, and it changed to climate change, then man induced climate change.
Humans keep getting in the path of natural hazards, building houses in places that we have no business living there, and when calamity strikes we complain. The oil and gas industry is possible because of climate change and rises in sea level of epic proportions. I am referring to marine transgression and regression. How many people in the general public understand this? Why are we not making this information mainstream? "Political correctness in the science of the day." I was shocked during a presentation when the gentlemen presenting said that these days if you want grant money you need to tie what you are doing to climate change, if not you will not get anything.
The scientist owes the public that depends on them to tell them the truth and nothing more than the truth. It is not about being cool and trendy or fitting in the mold. If Galileo fitted in the mold, we would never have gone to the moon.
