The fallacy of “white privilege” and why it must be stopped

An article titled, “Explaining White Privilege to a Broke White Person” made me write this. Let me state by stating categorically that I do not deny the interplay of superiority and inferiority complex that is prevalent between all people. I am not naïve that some people feel that they are superior to others and do everything within their power to put those they consider inferior in their place. I do not deny a history of slavery, discrimination, segregation, abuse, and exploitation.

But if all we do is to recount past and present evil perpetuated by some, we risk playing the victim card and become entrapped in a vicious cycle of despair and hopelessness.

The term “white privilege” is another loaded term that must be denounced and discarded. How can we be talking of “white privilege” when there are no whites? You may be saying that it is generally accepted that Caucasians are white. The Caucasians themselves are comfortable referring to themselves as whites. Are they white? I mean, like the color white. I am still to see anybody that is white like a white sheet of paper. If there are not whites, how can we have white privilege?

The same people who coined the bogus "white and black" divide have come up with a new term, “white privilege,” to place guilt on the “whites” and liberate the “blacks.”

Talking about blacks, have you seen people who are black as the color black? How come some are called colored yet, we do not have any that are colorless?

To you, who talks about black pride, are you black? I mean, is the color of your skin like the color black. Just because somebody calls you black does not mean that you are black and should accept the label. Now you are fed white privilege, and you are swallowing it hook and sinker. Why? Do you believe that the “whites” are somehow privileged? How are they privileged? Are they the children or a superior God and you children of a lesser God?

Please stay with me, because you may be wondering why I am so bothered about color if we are not honest about color how can be honest about other things. If we don’t know our colors, how can we solve the problems that using color to classify humans have brought?

If you genuinely believe that “whiteness” has some privilege and you want to do something about it, start by rejecting being called white. In all honesty, you are not white and should reject that label. When you stop calling yourself “white,” you will also stop calling other people black, colored, yellow, or whatever label is being used.

White privilege is false because it cannot stand the following truths:

1)   We are all created in the image and likeness of God

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27

2)   We are all one

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28

3)   The cream always rises to the top

Do you see a person skilled in his work? He will stand in the presence of kings. He will not stand in the presence of the unknown.

Proverbs 22:29

Instead of encouraging people to remain victims and at the mercy of other people, we should emphasize these truths. We don’t need “white guilt” for “blacks” to be human because “blacks” are already 100% human, created in the image and likeness of God. Nothing can be added or subtracted from this.
