More than two thousand years ago a bold declaration and profound statement were made by Jesus Christ of Nazareth. He declared, “You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free”. These few words have the potential of completely transforming every aspect of your life. You will reap a great reward when you begin to know the truth about your spiritual condition, health, finances, job, marriage, education, friends, investments, history, future, sleep, alcohol and the food you eat, etc.
It is in your best interest to find out the truth and to know it. Unfortunately, we live in a day and age where people do not like the truth.
Part of the reason is that truth demands action. And action requires change. Change is uncomfortable and nobody wants to be uncomfortable. Change requires sacrifice and many will rather keep what they have than sacrifice it. Maintaining the status quo is predictable, secure, and comfortable. Therefore it is easier to keep things the way they are. But at what price?
You cannot afford not to know the truth about whatever circumstance is surrounding you today. As a little kid my father always said, “The truth is bitter but it must be spoken”. You and you alone must embark on the quest to know the truth about depression if you are depressed. You have to dig deeper to uncover the truth about obesity if you are obsessed. The truth about any addiction you are battling is what is going to set you free. The truth is what you need to break free. The truth will liberate you; it will set you free if you are willing to know about it.
There is nothing more crucial than the truth about who you are, what you are doing here, and where you are going. Have you found the truth about these important questions? Have you found out what you are doing here on earth? Do you know where you are going?
Do yourself some good and begin to investigate the truth about the failures and setbacks you have had so far. The natural tendency is to hide your head and in the sand; cover up the past and wish it is forgotten. When you do this, it is like covering a wound with a Band-Aid without any medication. This only covers the wound, but it will continue to decay and the end will be catastrophic.
Even if knowing the truth cots you all your wealth, the return on the investment to know the truth will pay off more than a hundred times. Seeking the truth is going to require some courage and fortitude on your part. You will have to strong to hear that your marriage is failing may be because you have blown it on many occasions. That your business is failing because of bad choices you have made. You may be up for a rude awaking to the fact that you are where you are because of some bad decisions you made in the past.
True Friends are those who tell you the truth no matter what. Most of the time people avoid the inconveniences that accompany telling the truth and gloss over your situation. They declare it is well when the truth is that you will die if you do not change the course you are currently on.
The first step to all who have recovered from any addiction is when they come to the realization that they are helpless. They accept the fact that they are bound by and cannot free themselves. It is only when this truth sets in that their recovery can occur.
Most excuses for not doing what you know you are supposed to do it an attempt to circumvent the truth. The truth is not sorted after, or it is simply rejected because the price to make the necessary changes is too high. But do not forget that the price of not changing is higher.
Seek the truth, for it is the truth and the truth alone that will set you free.
